Hannah Wallace grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick and completed her BSc (honours) at the University of New Brunswick - Saint John in 2017. During her BSc she developed a keen interest in viruses. Following completion of her undergraduate degree, Hannah moved to St John's, Newfoundland to complete a MSc with Dr. Rod Russell at Memorial University. At Memorial, she decided to roll her MSc into a PhD in 2018. She is currently working to understand how Hepatitis C Virus induces pyroptosis (an inflammatory form of programmed cell death), how pyroptosis contributes to disease associated with HCV infection and whether pyroptosis acts as a protective host mechanism or a mechanism of pathogenesis used by the virus.
